FUHN Health Informatics Consultant Joel Farley, PhD, FAPhA, FAMCP, is a pharmacist, pharmaceutical outcomes researcher, teacher, and mentor. For more than three years, he has provided valuable insight to the FUHN member clinics, facilitated a key relationship with the University of Minnesota’s Best Practices Integrated Informatics Core, included his doctoral students among the FUHN leadership team, and provided data and analysis to guide FUHN’s efforts in value-based care.
In April 2026, Dr. Farley received two significant professional honors: he received the American Pharmacists Association Research Achievement Award in the Pharmaceutical Sciences and became an AMCP Fellow in the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy in recognition of “excellence in managed care pharmacy and outstanding contributions to AMCP.”
Offered annually, the APhA Research Achievement Award recognizes “outstanding, meritorious achievement in any of the pharmaceutical sciences…and contributions in basic pharmaceutical, clinical, and economic, social, and administrative sciences.”
In an acknowledgment of the AMCP Fellow award recipients, AMCP said, “Your contributions power everything we do at AMCP. You’re raising the standard of care, mentoring the next generation, and proving what's possible when a community commits to something bigger than itself.”
It’s that “mentoring the next generation” that stands out to the FUHN Leadership team. In a recent LinkedIn post, Dr. Farley posted about his students, while leaving it to APhA and AMCP to highlight his own achievements.
Incredibly proud of our amazing students, Alex Bealka, Annika Sorenson, and Dongho Lee, for making it to the AMCP P&T Finals. It is no small feat to make it to the finals, and they did an amazing job representing the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy in the competition.

So, Dr. Farley’s FUHN leadership team colleagues want to take a moment to celebrate him!
“FUHN is grateful for Dr. Farley’s partnership supporting FUHN’s data analytics and guiding research activities,” said FUHN Executive Director Mary Maertens. “His work is critical to our success.”
